Description:
Pocono International Raceway's 3/4 Mile Oval, Long Pond, PA; 0.75-mile track.

The Pocono International Raceway as we know it today began as this fast 3/4 mile mile oval and was used for many races including the Race of Champions for modifieds from 1980 through 1991. This version was meant to replicate the track through its various stages during that time period and isn't directly associated with any particular year. The Race of Champions at the Pocono 3/4 Mile Oval was won by some of modified racing's greatest drivers including Richie Evans (who won it the first year it was held on the 3/4 mile), George Kent, Jimmy Spencer, Greg Sacks, Brian Ross, Brett Bodine, George Brunnhoelzl, Tony Hirschman, Mike Stefanik and Donald "Satch" Worley who won the 200 lap race the final year it was held on the 3/4 mile in 1991. The track record was set in 1990 by George Kent driving Art Barry's #21 with a lap time of 24.839 seconds at 108.700 MPH.

The Race of Champions then moved to the Flemington Fair Speedway and was held there for four years before it finally found it's current home at the Oswego Speedway.

The Race of Champions at Pocono regularly drew a field of more than 50 entries every year but due to limitations with pit road, it will only hold 30 cars. The banking in the turns is not 100% accurate and was estimated based on feel and pictures supplied by various folks. We attempted to contact the staff at Pocono numerous times for assistance, but emails and phone calls were not returned. Therefore, this is not a true replication, but an estimate of what it might have been like during that time period.

Special Thanks goes out to...
- Riviera71 for some help with stubborn banking on the big track.

- Fran Lawlor and the Chrome Horn.com, Mike Clayton, Kevin Dyer and Mark Southcott from NYRaceZone.com. Without those folks, this track would have never happened. Reference materials for a track that is now gone and buried under the current Sprint Cup garage area were few and far between.

- Modified drivers George Brunnhoelzl (who won the RoC in 1987) and Philip Smith were gracious enough to take time to talk to us about the track and its characteristics. Thank you to both drivers for trying to explain what the track was like from the driver's seat.

- The drivers of the SIModified.com True Value/Race of Champions 200 who all patiently waited for us to get a version that loaded so we could run the season finale on an earlier beta version. This track was built for this series and future special events at SIModified.com. That race will be a highlight of our first year of existance and we have you to thank for it!

- Ross Pendergast (RossofNC) for offering to help us recreate this track. Even though we never got to sit down and discuss the project, your willingness to help us get this track created speaks volumes as to what this community is all about. Your work on the interior road courses of Pocono inspired me to come up with this idea and we have you to thank for it.

- Papyrus for laying down the original Pocono.

- This track is dedicated to modified driver Don Pratt, who lost his life entering the first turn at Pocono's 3/4 mile oval on September 17th, 1989. The following year, the cement barriers which dictated the outside of the corners were removed.
